Brooklyn Park Man Pleads Guilty to Fleeing Police, Killing Motorist
Trevon McMorris, 27, of Brooklyn Park, pleaded guilty to fleeing police in a a motor vehicle, which resulted in the death of a 50-year-old Minneapolis man.
The criminal complaint says Minneapolis Police responded to a possible drug deal between three cars on May 1. While police ran McMorris’ information, McMorris sped away nearly hitting one police officer. The complaint says McMorris sped north and crashed into another car. That car hit a parked vehicle and pinned the driver, Madrid Salcido, inside. Officers extracted Salcido. An ambulance rushed him to the hospital where he died an hour later.
The complaint states that a search of Trevon McMorris’ car turned up several bags of suspected cocaine, marijuana, a pistol and a small scale.
