Brooklyn Park Hotel Worker Named ‘Hospitality Rockstar’
In Brooklyn Park, a deserving honor for someone who works in an industry that has endured some challenging times.
Minneapolis Northwest Tourism honored one of its longtime hotel workers, Oscar Rosalez, with its “hospitality rockstar” award.
Described as a “jack of all trades,” Rosalez works at the La Quinta Inn and Suites in Brooklyn Park.
He first started as a housekeeper, then transitioned to maintenance and supervisory work.
“He is a role model,” said Khalid Qureshi, owner of the Brooklyn Park La Quinta. “He comes here every day happy, excited and we love to have him here.”
“We want to be great hosts when visitors come into our area, and these are the people that are the best of hosts,” said Cyd Haynes of Minneapolis Northwest Tourism. “These are the people that give the memorable experience for our visitors.”
For the honor, Rosalez received a little hospitality himself, plus a $500 gift card.
“The hospitality industry is a little bit invisible. We don’t always see the hard work that’s behind what these people do,” Haynes added. “And especially somebody who has been in in the industry for many, many years, has been faithful for many years to service our people. It’s really important to lift up those people as examples, especially for the rest of the industry. We’re going through a really hard time, so it’s especially important right now.”
