Brooklyn Park Company Finds New Niche with My Backyard Studio
For years marketing agency Star, located in Brooklyn Park, has been known for designing and building unforgettable exhibits, in-house fabrications and interiors. The company has worked alongside with big brands and names like Google, Doritos and Target.
But COVID-19 took a hard hit on events that Star relied so heavily on. The industry lost 70-90% of its revenue. The chaos drove the agency to pivot its focus to homeowners.
“This trend of working from home, we felt like was going to go on for some time,” said Mark Johnson, CEO and founder of Star. “That was the basis of the decision to do more with it and create My Backyard Studio.”
My Backyard Studio is a new sister company of Star. It creates modular home living spaces for people who need extra space or just an escape. Studios can be used for anything including gyms, classrooms and home offices.
“This certainly brings an affordable opportunity for people to add needed space and really carve out a place they can call out of their own,” said Rich Rizzardi, Star’s vice president of sales and marketing.
The starting cost for a studio is anywhere from $15,000 to $17,000. The studios are insulated and have update packages which include electricity and heating and cooling. There are several designs and sizes or clients can customize it.
