Brooklyn Center Police Get New Uniform Patch
For the first time in 40 years, Brooklyn Center police officers are rocking a new uniform shoulder patch.
The patch was designed by staff members. Similar to the previous one, the new design has a bald eagle holding the American and Minnesota flags.
The new patch incorporates a thin blue outline of the state of Minnesota. It also includes the establishment date of the Brooklyn Center Police Department. The city’s old logo is also no longer there.
“We had a little bit of motivation as the city transitioned away from our old logo recently, so that really was kind of the push to seriously look at redoing the patch,” said Cmdr. Garett Flesland.
The newest patch will be the third patch ever at the department. Officers hope in the next month, all police garments will have the new design.
