Brooklyn Center Offers Free Community ‘Seed Swap’
Budding gardeners are in luck! Brooklyn Center is now offering a spot where you can pick up produce seeds for free.
The community “seed swap” is located in a Little Free Library-style box next to the city’s community garden. Rachel Salzer, Brooklyn Center’s recreation coordinator, said the seed swap offers different varieties of fruits, vegetables and herbs.
“People from anywhere in the community are able to stop by and grab whatever seeds they want, use as many as they want,” Salzer said. “If they have any seeds left over of their own, or seeds from us, they can bring it back and keep giving it forward.”
This was made possible by a Hennepin County Paso a Paso grant. Salzer said the city will restock the box at Centennial Park West regularly.
