Brooklyn Center AD on Thielen Foundation: ‘They’ve Done A Lot’
News of Adam Thielen’s release from the Minnesota Vikings has local schools reflecting. Officials from the Brooklyn Center School District remember the impact the wide receiver not only had on the team, but what his foundation did for the high school.
“They’ve done a lot to help us bring some pride back to our athletic programs,” said Nate Gautsch, Brooklyn Center’s athletic director.
Gautsch says the Adam Thielen Foundation helped purchase sports equipment for multiple teams and provided $1,000 scholarships to five different athletes.
But the most notable contribution came two years ago, when the foundation replaced the school’s stadium lights, which were deemed unsafe by Xcel Energy in 2018.
And despite challenging game weeks, Thielen would make his presence known at the high school.
“That was the impact that Adam had, by just showing up,” Gautsch said. “And showing these kids that there’s people out there that care about you.”
The Thielen Foundation released a statement saying that it will continue supporting local programs for underserved youth.
