Black Bear Sighted in Maple Grove, DNR Says Put Away Bird Feeders and Trash Cans
Minnesota DNR Confirms Maple Grove Bear Sighting
Three Rivers Park District and the Minnesota DNR confirm that a black bear has been spotted roaming around a residental neighborhood.
“The survival of this bear as well as any other bear is keeping it out of trouble,” said Andrew Tri with the Minnesota DNR.
“Keeping the bear out of trouble” means removing birdfeeders and securing trash cans. Store your trash containers in the garage or a shed, recommended Tri.
There are no longer plans to trap the bear, but instead the DNR plans to monitor reports of bear sightings in the Maple Grove area.
Officials are not concerned with the trap the bear has on its leg. Tri said they’ve observed video of the bear and that “it doesn’t seem necessary to intervene.”
Reports of bears are not unusual in Maple Grove. Last summer, there were reports of a bear spotted near Elm Creek Park Reserve.
