Asian Duck Restaurant Returns to Plymouth
As the old saying goes, “There’s no place like home.”
Two years after leaving a space in Plymouth that was bigger than what was needed, Asian Duck is back.
“This smaller Asian Duck, it’s almost like a 2.0,” said owner Mary Slater. “It’s an Asian Duck 2.0 is the best way to describe it.”
Slater describes Asian Duck as a southeast Asian restaurant that focuses on Lao cuisine.
“So, you’ll have the lemongrass, all the different herbs and different spices. But for Lao cuisines, you’ll get more of that ‘oomph’ is how I like to describe that,” she said. “It’s got that kind of bold, savory, sweet, salty balance there. Which we really, really take pride in.”
Asian Duck reopened in July in an intimate space that was once home to a Caribou Coffee.

Spring rolls and drunken noodles are two of the most popular items at Asian Duck in Plymouth.
It’s a family-owned restaurant serving up old family recipes that are prepared by — you guessed it — family.
“We’ve got my mom involved, my dad, my auntie, my husband, myself, and you know it’s a blessing to not have murdered each other,” Slater said with a laugh.
Thankfully things don’t get too “fowl” at Asian Duck.
All joking aside, the goal is for everyone who walks through the doors to feel like they’re dining with loved-ones, whether they’re ordering popular dishes like spring rolls and drunken noodles or a beverage like the Thai iced tea.
“Everybody from our former location in Plymouth here has come back, now noticing us, and like ‘oh my God we’re so happy you’re back,'” said Slater. “And that’s the kind of support that we need and we look forward to and we’re just really grateful.”
Asian Duck’s other location is in Minneapolis, just down the street from Minnehaha Falls.

Asian Duck is located at 3500 Vicksburg Lane North suite 700 in Plymouth.
