Arbor Lakes Corporate Center Takes Shape
City and community members broke ground on the Arbor Lakes Corporate Center on Monday. The city says it’s been one of the toughest pieces of land to develop, because it used to be the Hilger Transfer Site, also called the old Osseo dump.
“We ran into unknowns, which isn’t unknown in this type of project. So it added cost and time delays,” explained Heidi Nelson, Maple Grove city manager. “When we started to explore the cost of clean up, we knew it was going to be significant.”
Trucks hauled away more than 150 tons of debris off the site, which mean there often were more than 200 truckloads of trash a day carted out. Remediation costs totaled around five million dollars, and the city of Maple Grove shared the cost with Hennepin County, DEED, and the Met Council.
The Arbor Lakes Corporate Center is expected to be finished by late summer next year.
