Osseo Mayor Duane Poppe had some updates for CCX Media’s Dave Kiser recently.

The city’s fight against the invasive parasite continues.
“We took an inventory. We were able to determine the ones that needed to be removed, because they had been infested, and also the ones to help preserve the trees we entered into a spraying program,” Mayor Poppe said. “Every two years, they go through and they apply a spray to the tree to help ward them off and save the tree.”
He told Kiser that Osseo residents can contact Rainbow Treecare and get a deal on treatment plans for their property if need be.
Construction
Poppe said construction in the city this summer will involve improvements to alleys in residential areas.
“That’s really the last pieces of our road maintenance plan we embarked on 15 years ago,” he said.
Police Department
The Osseo Police Department recently welcomed newly-sworn officers to the ranks.
“Our policing was something that we’ve worked on and continued to beef up our staff,” Poppe said.
He also said the department added a new position of investigator.
“Before, the patrol was doing their own investigations, taking them off the street,” said Poppe. “To be more effective, we put in that investigator position and put somebody into that.”
150th Anniversary Celebration
Events happening nearly every month continue to celebrate Osseo’s 150th anniversary.
Recently, members of the 150th committee were recognized at the State Capitol for their work.
