Golden Valley Starts Rebranding Process
The City of Golden Valley has officially kickstarted a months-long process to reframe city’s identity through logo and other means.
“In Golden Valley, we lack identity, right?” said Mayor Roslyn Harmon. “Rebranding allows signage, it allows people to know who we are, which is that perfect, unique gem that we want to continue to be. 55 It elevates us, in terms of letting us be innovative in terms of our website design, in terms of navigation, access to services, all of that, so it’s more than just a logo.”
The city’s logo has remained largely unchanged–a scripted golden-colored “v”–for decades.
“(Rebranding is) something the community and the organization have talked about for a long time,” said City Manager Noah Schuchman. “We have the opportunity now to do that at the same time that we’re getting ready to look at our Building Forward projects, and look at some new facilities, so it feels like the right time to re-examine the brand and help get us ready for what comes next for Golden Valley.”
Residents had a chance to meet the city-hired consultant for this process at the State of the City presentation on April 15 at Brookview.
“Now we make steps to move forward with what rebranding looks like, as we talk in terms of maybe a new logo, maybe a website design, all of those things,” said Mayor Harmon.
Golden Valley residents can also sign up to be a part of the rebranding steering committee and take a brief survey online about the rebranding process.
“We want the brand and the city to represent the people that live, work, and play in Golden Valley,” said Schuchman. “Without their voices it’s not going to be the same.”
Schuchman thinks the process could take the rest of 2026, if not longer.
“We want time to get things right, make sure we’re doing our due diligence and to make sure they’re coming up with creative designs that represent the community as a whole,” he said. “We can’t do that in a rush.”
