Crystal Police Chief Stephanie Revering Retiring After Nearly 30 Years
Crystal Police Chief Stephanie Revering started as a community service officer with the city 28 years ago. More than a decade ago, after rising through the ranks, she became police chief.
Later this month, she’ll retire.
“Its surreal. It goes by so fast. I tell so many people I can’t believe it’s finally here,” said Revering. “When I hear from other retired law enforcement officers, it just, it flies by, so it’s pretty exciting.”
In her time as chief, the city built a brand-new police station.
“We can’t be more grateful for the city council allowing us to do it,” she said.
She’s also covered horrific cases like the Barway Collins murder, a case she said will always be with her.

The murder of Barway Collins is a case that Crystal Police Chief Stephanie Revering says will stay with her.
“People don’t call 911 unless it’s their horrible day, right?” said Revering. “For me to be able to help with that serve them in a way that we’re supposed to, it’s definitely rewarding.”
Revering said the model for law enforcement agencies has changed in the wake of the murder of George Floyd and the death of Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center.
“The nice thing about Crystal PD, though, is that we’ve always been that community engagement-centered focus, and victim-centered,” she said. “So, for us, it’s something that didn’t have to change drastically, because it’s something we have done, even before I was chief when I started here 28 years ago. So, it’s something we’re proud of, and we’re glad to continue what we’ve learned over the past several years.”
