Crystal City Leaders Seek Public Input on Climate Action Plan
(CITY OF CRYSTAL) – The City of Crystal is launching Resilient Crystal 2035—its first climate action plan. This roadmap will guide how the community prepares for climate impacts, strengthens resilience, and supports a sustainable future.
“There’s just been a lot of momentum to think about how we can make our city more livable, more resilient to some of the increasing hazards like rain events and high temperature heat days,” said Jessi Eidbo, a member of the city’s sustainability commission.”
The city’s sustainability consultant, paleBLUEdot, and the Sustainability Commission will host two community Climate Action Plan meetings to share progress and gather feedback from residents.
The meetings are at the Crystal City Hall Upper Community Room, 4141 Douglas Dr. N. Attend a meeting, share your ideas, and help shape Crystal’s climate-resilient future:
• March 21, 2026 from 3:30–5 p.m.
• May 23, 2026 from 3:30–5 p.m.
At the same time, there are two online input components: a survey and a more open-ended diary approach.
“We will be talking about proposed and goals and actions and get community input on those goals and actions, (and) also accepting new ones we haven’t thought of,” said Sustainability Commission Member Leanne Russell Fate. “(It’s) exciting and satisfying to be able to participate at a community level on something that’s really going to impact lives at a community level.”
Commission members say the resulting climate action plan will be a way for the city to tailor its services and help guide residents to make decisions aimed at sustainability and climate responsibility.
“I think thinking of this as a domino to then unlocking a lot of subsequent dominoes that will empower people to feel like ‘Oh, I do have the resources,’ or ‘There is a grant program to support me’ if I want to take steps around some of these different initiatives,” said Eidbo.
