Brooklyn Park Photo Contest Seeks to Share Families’ Stories With Everyone
Brooklyn Park’s City Wide Photo Contest is now open for entries through July 11.

Winners of the Brooklyn Park City Wide Photo Contest are displayed on banners at Village Creek Park.
“We wanted to make sure we had all our special celebrations: graduations, holiday, cultural events, that could be included (in the contest),” said Tashawna Williams, an arts and engagement specialist with the City Of Brooklyn Park.
Williams said all entries are judged by her and her staff, and then finalists from that round of judging move on to city staff, with the top five in each category moving on to a public vote.
“Everybody has a voice in this contest,” she said. “I think it’s really important to share our residents’ stories from their vision and how they see their lives and lived experiences here in the city of Brooklyn Park.”
Another way everyone can see the winners is when they’re made into banners to hang outdoors at Village Creek Park.
“I think that we display it just to add more positivity to the city,” said Williams. “We have a beautiful space over here at Village Creek, and we just wanted to revitalize that space.”
