Brooklyn Center Brings Back Duncan The Dolphin to Teach Swimming Safety
The City of Brooklyn Center is rolling out an old friend to help spread the word about summer water safety.

Brooklyn Center Community Center is open for water activities.
Duncan the Dolphin is headlining Duncan’s Day of Summer Safety on May 31 at the Brooklyn Center Community Center. The free event is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will include swimming lessons, a safety presentation in English and in Spanish, giveaways, and an appearance by the mascot that was a mainstay at city events more than 15 years ago.
“Duncan was a huge staple, and we’re excited to bring Duncan back,” said Joe Cardoza, communications manager for the city. “We think it’ll be big draw just because it’s a familiar face and we want to build some hype around Duncan and have a good time.”
The city wants everyone to be safe in the water and enjoy the amenities of the community center.
“We just want folks to be aware of the facility here and our aquatics team, they do such a great job, and folks love the swimming lessons and we just want to make sure we give that opportunity to everyone that wants to come and learn,” said Cardoza.
The event is free, but the city encourages online registration here.
