Mayor’s Minutes: Crystal’s Jim Adams
Crystal Mayor Jim Adams recently spoke to CCX Media’s Dave Kiser as part of the Mayor’s Minutes series. The two spoke about a host of events coming up this spring in the city.
Neighbors Recognizing Neighbors
City council will once again take time to honor those nominated in the community through the city’s Neighbors Recognizing Neighbors program.
“It was one of those things we started–we looked at our city and said ‘What’s our biggest asset?’ It’s our people!” said Adams. City council will honor this year’s recipients at the council meeting on Tuesday, April 16 as part of National Volunteer Week.
Rockford Road Library Re-Opening
The Hennepin County Library’s Rockford Road Branch will re-open in April.
“They’ve made some improvements,” said Adams. “It’s a lot of environmental (improvements) and it’s more accessible as well.”
The library re-opens to the public on Monday, April 8 and there will be a grand reopening celebration on Saturday, April 13.
Police Open House
Crystal Police Department will host an open house on Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Visitors can walk around inside the jail, and around the garage bay with different equipment and vehicles to see.
“(There will be) a lot of opportunities to take pictures,” said Adams.
Crystal History Video Series
Mayor Adams also spoke about the recently-debuted series of videos all about the history of Crystal, which CCX Media and Kiser, along with Dustin Cooper, helped produce.
“It’s really well-done,” said Adams of the series, which can be viewed here.
Arbor Day
Finally, the city will celebrate Arbor Day with an event at Skyway Park on Wednesday, May 1 at 6:00 p.m.
“It’s an opportunity to help clean up that park as well as grab a tree to have in your yard,” said Adams.
