State Patrol: Alcohol Detected in Motorcycle Crash That Closed Hwy 610 Lanes
The Minnesota State Patrol said a man lost control of his motorcycle around a curve on westbound Highway 610 near Highway 252 Thursday evening, resulting in life-threatening injuries.
The motorcyclist, identified as Ryan Friedl, 30, of Buffalo, was ejected from his Harley Davidson Street Glide motorcycle. The bike then crashed into back of a pickup truck, the State Patrol said.
Friedl was taken to North Memorial Health Hospital after Brooklyn Park police and State Patrol troopers provided medical aid. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.
According to the State Patrol, alcohol was detected on the motorcyclist, possibly contributing to the crash. Friedl was not wearing a helmet, the patrol said.
The crash, which occurred at around 6:35 p.m. Thursday, caused the State Patrol to close westbound 610 near the crash for several hours. The highway reopened at around 10 p.m.
