Maple Grove Boys Basketball Edges Park Center in Section Semifinals
The Maple Grove boys basketball team beat Park Center 72-68 in the Section 5AAAA semifinals to advance to the title game.
Maple Grove had a four-point lead at halftime before Park Center surged into the lead in the second half.
Maple Grove then went on a run to go up by eleven with just under five minutes to play.
Park Center rallied late and got within two with under a minute remaining but Maple Grove made clutch free throws to secure their third win of the season over the Pirates.
It was Nick Schroeder’s 300th win as Crimson head coach.
Keegan Harney had 21 points to lead Maple Grove, going 10-for-10 at the free throw line in the second half.
Baboucarr Ann added 18 points and Nathan Hromodka 13, including two big three-pointers down the stretch.
Xavier Frelix had 31 points to lead Park Center.
The Pirates end with a 16-11 record.
