Young Wayzata Wrestling Team Ready for New Season
Despite a pandemic-shortened season the Wayzata wrestling team will compete against top notch competition this winter.
The Trojans are led by defending state champion and senior Cael Swensen but the bulk of team is sophomores and freshmen.
Some of these underclassmen have state tournament experience, like Cal Lonnquist and Kyler Wong, both of whom were state place winners in 2020.
Safety protocols are in place for the team as athletes and coaches navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wayzata faces several strong teams early in the season including Prior Lake, Shakopee, St. Michael-Albertville and Simley.
The Trojans’ first action is set for January 14th as they host Lakeville South and Rosemount in a triangular.
