Wayzata Wrestling Team Falls to STMA
The Wayzata wrestling team fell to St. Michael-Albertville 35-28 as part of a quad meet at Wayzata.
STMA is ranked second in the state in class AAA, with Wayzata rated number eight.
Both teams had some key wrestlers out due to injury or illness.
The Knights controlled much of the middle weight on the way to building a 35-13 lead.
Wayzata won the last three matches, two of them pins, to make the score closer.
Wayzata did beat Buffalo and Willmar later in the evening.
St. Michael-Albertville has been to the state team tournament for 21 straight seasons.
They beat Wayzata in the Section 5AAA final last season, and the teams could very well meet in the final this season.
