Wayzata Wrestlers Pin Hopkins, Buffalo
The sixth-ranked Wayzata wrestling team beat Hopkins 72-6 and Buffalo 56-21 in a Lake Conference tri-meet at Buffalo.
The Trojans won all but one match against Hopkins. The Royals’ RJ Chakolis, a defending state champ, won his 175th career match by pinning Gage Opp.
Wayzata jumped out to a 30-0 lead against the Bison, with three forfeits, two pins and a technical fall.
Buffalo did win four matches, three of them by fall, from 145 pounds on but it was too little, too late.
Wayzata is now 23-4 as they prepare for section competition.
