Wayzata Volleyball Opens Defense of State Title…Again
Fall sports practices began around the state Monday morning, including at Wayzata volleyball.
The Trojans have won four straight state titles, including a perfect 34-0 season in 2023.
Although that was a senior-dominated team the Trojans do return some very good talent.
Middle hitters Katie Kelzenberg and Reilly Kurth are both back and both have committed to Division One programs, and Eva Swenson also saw significant playing time as a setter and hitter last season.
A record 103 players, grades 9 through 12, are out for volleyball at Wayzata. That number will be trimmed to around 60 by the end of the week as the Trojans set their rosters for the different grade levels.
The Trojans Varsity opens the season at home on August 22nd against another state tournament team from last season, Rogers. That’s a match you can watch live on CCX.
