Wayzata Swims to Section 5AA Title
The Wayzata girls swimming and diving team won the Section 5AA championship Saturday, qualifying several girls to this week’s state meet.
The Trojans finished with 673 team points. Maple Grove finished second with 353 points and Champlin Park finished third with 300 points.
Wayzata junior Claire Reinke set a new section record in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 53.97 seconds and also won the 50 freestyle race. In all Wayzata won 10 events.
Maple Grove freshman Libby Bakker won both the 200 yard individual medley and the 100 yard freestyle.
The state meet is this Thursday through Saturday at the University of Minnesota.
