Wayzata Swimmer Reinke Swims to 3rd State Butterfly Title
Wayzata senior Claire Reinke won her third state title in the 100 yard butterfly Saturday helping the Trojans’ girls swimming and diving team to a third place finish in the Class AA meet.
Reinke’s winning time of 53.62 seconds was 18-hundredths of a second better than runner-up Annabelle Wetzel of Minnetonka.
Reinke, headed to the University of Minnesota on scholarship next year, also finished second in the 200 yard individual medley and was part of the Trojans’ 200 Medley Relay team (Tessa Moore, Nora Rabe, Reinke, Kimberly Lan) that placed second.
Wayzata finished third in team points in the meet behind champion Edina and Minnetonka.
Maple Grove sophomore Libby Bakker was the only other local athlete to place in the top five in Class AA, finishing third in the 100 yard backstroke.
In Class A, Breck’s Piper Crosby finished second in both the 100 yard backstroke and the 100 yard freestyle.
