Wayzata Legion Baseball Team Slips Past Eagan
The Wayzata American Legion baseball team slipped past Eagan 2-1 in 12 innings.
The game was a pool play battle at the Delano Stars and Stripes Wood Bat 4th of July tournament.
Wayzata broke a scoreless tie with a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 5th inning.
Eagan answered with a run in similar fashion in the sixth.
No one scored again until Keegan Nickel’s well-placed fly ball dropped in just fair down the left field line.
Charles Engdahl scored the winning run to start a celebration.
Wayzata advanced to the championship game before losing 6-5 to Edina.
That broke a three-year string of championships for Wayzata at the tournament.
