Wayzata Gymnastics Edges Hopkins in Key Lake Conference Meet
The Wayzata gymnastics team edged Hopkins in a big early-season Lake Conference meet, winning 142.8 to 142.25.
The two teams are expected to be the top two teams in the conference this season.
The Royals beat the Trojans last year to help give Hopkins its first conference championship since 2009.
Hopkins all-state senior Annabelle Speers won the all-around title at the meet with a score of 37.525.
Mikaela Lundvall was Wayzata’s best all-arounder, finishing with a score of 36.675.
Kylie Uhfeil of Wayzata won the balance beam with a score of 9.3 while Speers won vault, bars, and floor exercise.
