Wayzata Girls Basketball Beats Cooper; Advances to 6AAAA Final
The Wayzata girls’ basketball team built a 14-point halftime lead on the way to eliminating Cooper 75-48 in the semifinals of the Section 6AAAA tournament.
Shannon Fornshell led the Trojans (23-4) in scoring with 19 points while Abby Krzewinski added 14, Sophie Hawkinson 13 and Kate Amelotte 12.
Vanessa Saidu scored 16 points for Cooper. The Hawks finished the season with a 20-6 record.
Wayzata now faces defending section and state champion Hopkins for the 6AAAA title Thursday night at Hopkins.
The Royals beat Armstrong 86-44 in the other semifinal. Wayzata and Hopkins split their two regular season meetings.
