Wayzata Football Loses to Anoka
The Wayzata football team lost its regular season finale Thursday, falling 30-18 to Anoka.
Cole Heilbrun’s touchdown pass to Tony Ley in the second quarter and Thomas Theising’s field goal pulled the Trojans within 21-10 at halftime.
Kyle Boutwell’s 70-yard interception return in the third quarter and the two-point conversion that followed got Wayzata as close as 21-18 but Anoka scored the final nine points of the game.
Tornadoes quarterback Peyton Podany threw for over 300 yards in the game and Zach Welch scored three touchdowns.
Anoka (6-2) hosts East Ridge in their Class AAAAAA playoff opener next Friday night while Wayzata (2-6) plays at Forest Lake.
