Wayzata Football Loses at STMA
The Wayzata football team lost its second straight game as the Trojans fell 28-21 to St. Michael-Albertville.
The Knights converted a second-quarter Trojans’ turnover into points with a short touchdown run by Conner Luongvan.
Wayzata answered with a scoring drive that was capped by a Carter Olson touchdown run– one of two in the game for the junior running back.
STMA got the biggest play of the game when Colton Demarais threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Brody Odland on the final play of the first half to give the Knights a 14-7 lead.
Sam Anderson scored on a 90-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter for the Knights to put them ahead 28-7.
The Trojans scored the final two touchdowns- a 13-yard pass from Cole Heilbrun to Tyler Milkes and an Olson two-yard touchdown run.
Wayzata’s Ford Griffith finished with 116 receiving yards while Olson led the team in rushing with 91 yards.
STMA finished with 358 yards of total offense; Wayzata 407.
Both teams are now 1-2 this season.
