Wayzata Football Falls to Shakopee in Defensive Battle
The Wayzata football team lost 17-7 to Shakopee in a defensive battle Thursday night in Plymouth.
Shakopee’s Emmanuel Taye scored a first quarter touchdown to give the Sabers a 6-0 lead, and then added a 16-yard TD run late in the second quarter to make it 14-0 at the half.
Wayzata pulled within 14-7 on Caden Wong’s short touchdown run in the third, but the Sabers scored the only points in the fourth quarter with a field goal after the teams exchanged key turnovers.
Wayzata drops to 1-2 with the loss. Shakopee is 3-0.
