Wayzata Football Falls to Blaine in Season Ending Game
The Wayzata football team fell to Blaine 42-28 in the class AAAAAA playoffs, ending the season.
The teams traded touchdowns in the first half, leading to a 14-14 tie at halftime.
The third quarter proved to be the decisive stretch, as Blaine outscored Wayzata 21-0 to take a commanding lead.
The Bengals lead grew to 42-14 before the Trojans scored a couple of late touchdowns.
Josh Schlangen ran for 137 yards and two touchdowns and also had two touchdown receptions for Blaine.
Quarterback Tyler Schuster had just six completions for the Bengals but three of them went for touchdowns.
Julian Diedrich had nine catches for 181 yards and a touchdown for Wayzata.
Defending state champion Wayzata wraps up the COVID-19 shortened season with a 2-5 record.
Blaine finished 6-1.
