Wayzata Edges Hopkins in Gymnastics
The Wayzata gymnastics team edged Hopkins by less than two-tenths of a point Thursday, beating the Royals 138.800 to 136.625 in a Lake Conference meet.
It was just the second meet of the season for the Trojans who are now 2-0. It was the first meet loss of the season for the Royals (2-1).
Hopkins’ Annabelle Speers won the meet all-around title with a score of 36.375. Wayzata’s Sasha Arne recorded her team’s best score in the all-around with a 36.175.
The Trojans and Royals are expected to battle for a spot in the state meet next month as they compete again in the Section 6AA meet March 20th at Hopkins.
