Wayzata Boys Tennis Beats Maple Grove for State Berth
The Wayzata boys tennis team beat Maple Grove 6-1 in the Section 5AA team final.
The Trojans swept the singles matches and won at first and third doubles.
Maple Grove switched its lineup from the teams’ regular season meeting to load its doubles teams.
It paid off at number two doubles as Ryan Reid and Ben Bakke won their match.
Wayzata’s Michael Deal and Will Deters helped to foil the strategy by rallying to win in three sets at first doubles.
Section singles and doubles play started Wednesday.
