Wayzata Boys Hockey Primed for Playoff Run
The Wayzata boys’ hockey team believes it is playing some of best hockey of the season.
The Trojans are the top seed in the Section 6AA tournament and thumped Hopkins 9-1 in the section quarterfinals Tuesday.
Wayzata now faces Holy Angels in the semifinals Saturday at Bloomington Ice Garden.
Five wins in their past six games, including a 7-0 shutout of second-seeded Edina in the regular season finale, has given the Trojans confidence for the post-season.
Wayzata (18-6-2) and Holy Angels (19-6-1) play in the first 6AA semifinal Saturday at 3:00 pm at Bloomington Ice Garden.
Benilde-St. Margaret’s plays Edina in the second semifinal Saturday at 7:00 pm.
The winners play for the section title Wednesday at 7:00 pm, also in Bloomington.
