Wayzata Boys Hockey Falls to Edina in Turkey Trot Championship
The Wayzata boys hockey team lost 6-2 to Edina in the championship game of the CCX Media Turkey Trot tournament.
The Hornets broke open a close game with four goals in the third period, including three straight by Matt VanderVort.
Edina scored early in the first two periods, with Wayzata countering each time to tie the game.
It’s Edina’s first time winning the tournament since 2017.
Wayzata beat Moorhead 5-2 in the semifinals to reach the championship game.
