Wayzata Boys Hockey Falls to Edina in Section 6AA Final
The Wayzata boys hockey team lost 2-1 to Edina in the Section 6AA championship game Wednesday at Bloomington Ice Garden.
The Hornets scored 1:19 into the game on a goal by Matt Vandervort.
The score stayed the same until late in the third period.
After Wayzata had a goal waved off because it was knocked in with a hand, the Hornets’ Ryan Flaherty scored into an empty net to for a 2-0 lead.
Wayzata got on the board with 31 seconds to play on a rebound goal by Rhys Wallin, but the Hornets held on for the win to advance to the state tournament.
