Wayzata Boys Hockey Eliminates Hopkins in 6AA Playoffs
McCoy Kurtz scored three goals, all in the second period, to help lead the Wayzata boys hockey team to a 6-2 win over Hopkins in the quarterfinal round of the Section 6AA tournament.
Eli Molde scored twice for the Trojans who improved to 15-8-3 on the season. Wayzata led 2-0 after one period and scored three goals in 1:13 late in the second to go ahead 6-0 before the Royals scored the game’s final two goals.
Hopkins finishes the year with a 10-16-0 record.
Wayzata is the number two seed in 6AA and faces third-seeded Benilde-St. Margaret’s (21-5-0) in the semifinals Saturday at 7:00 pm at Bloomington Ice Garden. The Trojans beat the Red Knights 3-2 in December.
