Wayzata Boys Hockey Beats Maple Grove in Turkey Trot Tournament
The Wayzata boys hockey team capped a 2-0 weekend at the CCX Turkey Trot tournament by beating Maple Grove 6-4 Saturday.
The teams each scored three goals in an entertaining first period.
Wayzata went up 3-1 with goals 20 seconds apart from Jake Mattson and Luke Miller, only to see Lucas Busch and Luke Giuliani score for Maple Grove for a 3-3 tie after one.
Maple Grove took the lead for the first time early in the second period on a goal by Andrew Karkoc.
Wayzata’s Rhys Wallin scored the next two to give the Trojans a 5-4 lead after two periods.
Wallin had three goals and Miller two for Wayzata.

The Trojans beat Moorhead 6-1 on Friday night, while Maple Grove lost 3-0 to Edina.
