Wayzata Boys Hockey Beats Eden Prairie in Overtime
The top-ranked Wayzata boys hockey team survived a big challenge from Eden Prairie Wednesday, beating the Eagles 2-1 in overtime.
Brooks Gengler scored the game-winner, off an assist from Brittan Alstead.
Wayzata defenseman Hawke Huff started the scoring in the first period, scoring from the point on a powerplay for his first varsity goal.
It was the Lake Conference opener for the Trojans.
Wayzata improved to 6-0-1 with the win.
They’ll play in the Premiere Holiday in the Grove tournament hosted by Maple Grove this coming Tuesday through Thursday December 27-29.
