Wayzata Boys Basketball Shooting for Repeat Championship
The Wayzata boys basketball team will be shooting for a second straight state championship this week when the Trojans open defense of their 2021 title Tuesday afternoon.
Wayzata (25-4) scored three one-sided wins in the Section 6AAAA tournament including a 77-55 victory over Minneapolis South in the section final.
The Trojans face Moorhead (17-12) in the state quarterfinals. Wayzata beat Moorhead 75-60 in January. The Spuds edged Brainerd 53-52 in the Section 8AAAA championship game.
Wayzata and Moorhead are set to tip off at 4:00 pm Tuesday at Target Center.
The state class AAAA championship game is scheduled for Saturday night at Williams Arena.
