Wayzata Boys Basketball Routs Shakopee in State Semifinals
The Wayzata boys basketball team routed Shakopee 72-43 Thursday night in the state Class AAAA semifinals to advance to Saturday’s state championship game.
The Trojans scored the first eight points of the game and led the Sabers 38-16 at halftime.
Drew Berkland scored 17 points, Camden Heide 15 points and Carter Bjerke 14 to pace the Trojans who went 10-16 on three-point shots.
Wayzata (18-2) meets Cretin-Derham Hall for the AAAA title Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at the Target Center.
This is the first state championship game appearance for Wayzata since they won the title in 1959.
