Wayzata Boys Basketball Ready to Defend State Title
The Wayzata boys basketball team is ready for a new season as they looked to defend the state class AAAA title they won last season.
The Trojans graduated standout guards Eddie Beeninga and Kody Williams.
Senior Camden Heide, who would have been one of the best players in the state, elected to play for a prep school in Utah.
The Trojans will build around returning starters Carter Bjerke, a great shooting big man who is headed to St. Thomas, and three-sport standout Drew Berkland.
Last year’s sixth man, Ryan Harvey, will step into a bigger role this season.
The Trojans will get some early tests as they face highly ranked Park Center, Shakopee, and Cretin-Derham Hall in a seven-day stretch in mid-December.
