Wayzata Boys Basketball Beats Rogers in State Tournament Opener
The Wayzata boys basketball team built a 28-point second-half lead on the way to a 77-64 win over Rogers in the Class AAAA tournament quarterfinals.
Jackson McAndrew and Isaac Olmstead scored 17 points each to lead the Trojans. Wyatt McBeth added 10 points off the bench.
Christian Wagner led the Royals with 14 points.
Wayzata (28-1), the defending state champions and top seed for the tournament, faces Cretin-Derham Hall in the semifinals Thursday at 6:00 pm at Williams Arena.
Rogers (21-9) meets Farmington in consolation play Thursday morning at Concordia University in St. Paul.
