Wayzata Beats Cooper in Section 6AAAA Boys Basketball Final
The Wayzata boys basketball team is headed to the state tournament after beating Cooper 67-59 in the Section 6AAAA final.
The Trojans built a 35-24 halftime lead before Cooper stormed back to start the second half to close the gap.
They never quite caught up though as the Trojans maintained the lead throughout the second half.
Cooper was within six late in the contest on a couple of occasions but could not come any closer.
Eddie Beeninga hit several clutch free throws and had 28 points for Wayzata.
Camden Heide had 11 and Kody Williams ten for the Trojans.
Davion Evans had 15 points and Broderick Powell, Jr. 14 for Cooper.
The Hawks finished the season at 15-3; Wayzata is now 16-2 and heading to the state Class AAAA tournament.
