Wayzata Baseball Swept by Edina in Section 6AAAA Final
Top seed Wayzata came into the final round of the Section 6AAAA baseball tournament without a loss in the double-elimination tourney.
Edina needed to sweep a doubleheader from the Trojans to take the section title Thursday, and that’s exactly what they did.
Edina won 10-1 and 5-1 to win their first section title since 1983.
Wayzata grabbed an early lead on a Brady Lash single in the bottom of the first inning of game one.
That lead lasted until the fifth inning, when Edina took the lead for good with a pair of runs. They added two in the sixth and six more in the seventh to win game one going away 10-1.
Edina scored single runs in the second and third innings to take a 2-0 lead in game two.
After Wayzata scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third, the Hornets got a solo homerun from Caden Morgan in the fifth for a 3-1 lead.
They got two more in the sixth to help seal the win.
