Wayzata Baseball Shuts Out Armstrong in 6AAAA Tournament
The Wayzata baseball team scored seven runs in the third inning on the way to a 10-0 shutout of Armstrong in the Section 6AAAA playoffs.
The Trojans scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings, sandwiched around the seven-run third.
Jake Berkland had three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Trojans. Brady Lash also drove in two runs for Wayzata and Nelson Koenig pitched four scoreless innings to earn the win for the Trojans.
The loss eliminates Armstrong (6-15) from the tournament.
Wayzata (10-12) now faces Edina (13-8) in another elimination game Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. Hopkins and St. Louis Park play at 4:30 pm Wednesday in the winner’s bracket final.
The tournament then continues Saturday and next Monday with all games at Hopkins High School.
