Totino-Grace Boys Basketball Wins State Title
The Totino-Grace boys basketball team won its fourth state Class AAA state championship in five seasons, edging DeLaSalle 72-70 in the title game.
The Eagles took the lead for good midway through the first half and led by ten at halftime.
The Islanders pulled within one on three Jaeden Udean free throws with seven seconds to play. Malachi Hill made one of two free throws for the Eagles with five seconds to play to put Grace up 72-70.
DeLaSalle had one final possession but turned the ball over in the backcourt to end the game.
Totino-Grace finishes the season with a record of 27-2. It’s the third time this decade that the Eagles have defeated the Islanders in the state final.
Jaylan Hynes made five three pointers and scored 19 points to lead Totino-Grace in scoring. Dothan Ijadimbola and Tian Chatman added 13 points each.
Hynes, Ijadimbola and DeAngelo Dungey made the all-tournament team from Grace.
In the AAAA tournament Maple Grove finished fourth and Wayzata fifth.
Max Iversen of Maple Grove and Nolan Andersen and Christian Wiggins of Wayzata were selected to the all-tournament team.
