Top-Ranked Wayzata Girls Basketball Tops Maple Grove in OT
Kate Amelotte scored a career-high 38 points, including 12 in overtime, to help lead the Wayzata girls basketball team to a 100-83 overtime win over Maple Grove.
In a back-and-forth game, Maple Grove’s Sophia Anderson hit a three-pointer with seconds left in the second half to force overtime.
The Trojans controlled the OT, outscoring the Crimson 23-6.
In addition to Amelotte, four other Trojans players scored in double figures- Mallory McBeth (19 points), Annika Kieser (17), Kaja Nash (12), and Maren Day (11).
Anderson led the Crimson in scoring with 30 points. Sienna Mayer scored 21- all on three-pointers- Lydia Gilbert netted 11 and Monica Stang 10.
The win was the second this season for the Trojans over the Crimson and the 14th overall for the top-ranked Trojans who improved to 18-3 on the season.
Maple Grove, ranked fourth, drops to 16-5.
