Top-Ranked Hopkins Girls Rally to Beat Wayzata
The top-ranked Hopkins girls basketball team trailed at halftime of a game for the first time this season Tuesday night.
Annika Stewart’s 15 first-half points had helped give second-ranked Wayzata a 35-32 lead at the half.
The Royals though began the second half on a 24-11 scoring run to lead the game for good at 56-46.
Wayzata got as close as three points with under two minutes to play before Hopkins pulled away again.
Paige Bueckers scored 27 points for Hopkins and Maya Nnaji added 23 for the 16-0 Royals who won their 48th straight game.
Jenna Johnson scored 28 to lead Wayzata while Stewart and Mara Braun added 22 each for the Trojans (14-2).
