Terry Tuma Fishing Tip: Keeping Walleyes on the Hook
In this week’s CCX Fishing Tip Hall of Fame angler Terry Tuma talks about keeping fish, specifically walleyes, hooked until you can get them into the boat.
Terry says he’s heard from a number of anglers who lose fish halfway up the water column.
He suggests that if you are using a short shank jig to switch to a long shank. Use the correct rod, one with a backbone strong enough to more easily get a strong hook set.
Terry also says to hold the rod tip down a second or so longer to allow the fish to chew on the bait before setting the hook.
Terry’s tips can be seen weekly on CCX through early September.
